Hello, I’m Shaelyn.

I’m an activist for the voices who want to speak out for the public and have their concerns heard. I specialize in writing, marketing, creating graphics, and photo editing.

My Education

Journalism

Finding the truth for the public and giving them as much information as possible. This is a code I live by as a journalist. I want to be a voice for those who have nowhere else to turn but need others to listen. Being able to spread awareness and build more trust within our communities is more than just a goal; it’s an ongoing fight for human lives.

In 2022, I began my college journey at Ohio University, determined to hone my writing, creativity, and design skills. Through Journalism, I have developed editing in both video and voice-over interviews. I have also been able to work with graphic design, an interest I took in high school, and wanted to pursue further through higher education.

Marketing Minor

I take an iterative approach in my work to ensure the final result aligns with your creative vision and reflects your unique brand identity. We’ll work together to refine and fine-tune your site’s design, leaving no detail overlooked.

Magazine Project

The content and artwork in this project were created for a magazine publisher, where I got to design the FOB, BOB, and table of contents. I was responsible for the layout, the headings, subheadings, and the photo layout. This assignment took three weeks to perfectly plan out and design, going through rounds of editing and critiquing.

Internship Writing

During my internship in 2025, I was responsible for developing my writing style and refining my voice. For these papers, I was responsible for watching Girls, a TV series filmed from 2012 to 2017. From this project, I wrote papers based on episodes, plot, or characters, and was responsible for discussing why I chose the specific topic to write about.

Capstone: Digital Segment

This digital segment is my first in-depth story for my fall 2025 capstone class at OU. Looking into these kinds of beats is why I became a journalist: to find the truth about how things come to be. Being able to make connections and share a side of the story that not many people even knew about is what being a journalist means to me.

FAQ

  • I love working on projects for clients, companies, or even freelance work. I adore making something creative and unique with a personal touch. Making the client smile and be proud to show off their product is the work I am proud to provide.

  • I consider myself a perfectionist when it comes to work along with having very unique ways of designing. If given a list of what you want out of me, I’ll deliver it to you and occasionally ask for input. If you give me nothing to work with, my workflow process might take a little longer.

  • Timelines depend on the project, but if you give me a schedule and all the content it shouldn’t take me long. I also enjoy feedback and communication so feel free to reach out and ask me questions.
